PMON errors are indicative of hardware issues. Often, it is the backup process not completing or the tape continuing to try and run while the users are in process on the database. This might also be occurring if your site is running some type of incremental backups during the business day against the database. We had one client who experienced repeating PMON errors as you describe and it was discovered they were experiencing a gradual but complete failure of their server which was then replaced. Once replaced, they did not see the errors again.
